Man jailed two weeks for assaulting commercial sex worker

A 23-year-old technician, Ayodele Adeboye, has been sentenced to two weeks imprisonment by an Abuja Magistrates’ Court for injuring a commercial sex worker at Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Two others, Hope Adekole, 25, and Abigail Adeboye, 22, convicted for joint act, assault and causing hurt, were however discharged by the court.

Police prosecutor, Kaura Arziki, had told the court that Supol Salihu Mohammed, attached to Dutse Alhaji Police Station, arrested the accused, all of the FCT, on same date jointly engaged in a free for all fight in a public place in Jabu village, Dutse Makaranta.

He said the accused in the process, inflicted injuries on each other.

When the charges were read to them, they pleaded guilty and the two women, first and second accused, were discharged by the magistrate, Mohammed Kutigi, accordingly.

The third accused was, however, sentenced to two weeks imprisonment with an option of N2,000 fine for criminal assault and causing hurt, while he was discharged for joint act.

The court also ordered them to sign an undertaking to be of good behaviour within 12 calendar months.
