Man Electrocuted in Osun, As Another Shoots Self

Tragedy occurred in Ilesa, Osun State when a young man, simply identified as Opeyemi Ogundele was electrocuted while attempting to illegally re-connect electricity line to his house.

Investigation conducted revealed that the deceased, of J11, Oke-Ayo in Ilesa attempted to re-connect the electricity wire shortly after staff of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) had disconnected the house over unpaid bill.

It was learnt that the deceased was hired to assist the occupants of the house to re-connect the electricity wire illegally and billed to be given N1.500 for illegal reconnection of the wire.

The deceased was said to have hired a ladder out of the money and left with the sum of N1.300 when the incident happened.

It was gathered that the deceased mistakenly touched the live wire on the electric pole and got electrocuted instantly.

Immediately the incident occurred, occupants of house deserted the house for fear of being arrested by the police.

It was learnt that the policemen in Ilesa has deposited the remains of the deceased at the Wesley Guild Hospital morgue.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Folasade Odoro confirmed the incident saying that investigation have commenced into the matter.

In a related development, a young man, simply identified as Bolaji mistakenly shot himself with his dane gun at Itagunmodi in Atakunmosa-West Local Government Council of Osun State.

Bolaji a local hunter was trying to shot at bush rat when den gun exploded at the firing point and hit him at abdomen.

The police also confirmed the incident adding that the man is current receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.
