Man Arrested In Lagos Over Illegal Bunkering

OFFICIALS of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have arrested a man in Ogba area of Lagos State for allegedly engaging in illegal oil bunkering.

Innocent Nwoevo was arrested Monday July 13, 2015 in his shop located at 6, Abiodun Jagun Street with 47 pieces of 50 litres kegs fully loaded with petroleum product otherwise known as PMS.

To unsuspecting residents and customers, Nwoevo sells food stuffs including rice, beans and noodles meanwhile they were just camouflage.

Leading the team, Executive Secretary, Ojodu LCDA, Ahmed Jaji, said he received a call on Sunday night from a resident who tipped him of the loading of petroleum in Nwoevo’s shop and immediately swung into action.

“The fact that he stored very highly inflammable in the shop contrary to impression that he sells rice and beans and when consider proximity to the estate, we thank God that we are able to nail the disaster in the bug.

When Daily Independent asked while he engaged in such illegal business, Nwoevo said, “I have seven shops in Ogba before, but the people working with me stole my money and I need to take care of my children.”
