Man, 26, Docked Over Theft Of Toiletries

A 26 year old man, Dayo Moses was on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court presided over by Olanike Olagbende, for allegedly stealing toiletries from a Spar Company in Lekki where he worked as a Porter.

The defendant who resides at Block 133, in Jackande Housing Estate Lekki is facing a one- count charge of stealing preferred against him by the police.

Moses pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

The prosecutor Sergeant Ishola Samuel told the court that the defendant, who is an employee of Spar, committed the alleged offence on September 11, 2015 at about 7:20am.

He said that the defendant stole six pieces of Nivea Roll , joy bathing soap, Nivea body cream all valued at  N6,000, belonging to the said company.

According to the prosecutor the offence committed is punishable under Section 285 (7), of the criminal law of Lagos state 2011.

Section 285, prescribes three years imprisonment, for any offender found guilty of the offence of stealing.

However Magistrate Olagbende, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till September 30, for mention.
