Maltina Teachers’ Award: Nigeria Breweries Unfolds Winners’ Rewards

THE overall winner of this year’s Maltina Teacher of the Year Award will go home with one million naira as well as another one million each year for the next five years

Disclosing this to newsmen on Friday July 10, 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria Breweries Plc Corporate Service Relations (CSR) Sustainability Manager, Emete Tonukari, said that the winners at the first stage of the competition in the 36 states of the federation would get N5,000 each.

Also, she disclosed that the 10 finalists at the second stage of the competition would pocket N750,000 each.

Tonukari disclosed that the award had generated a lot of interests all over the country as it was aimed at restoring the pride and dignity of the teaching profession.

She said that reports from across the country indicated that teachers had been enthusiastic about the competition, as hundreds of secondary school teachers had enlisted for the award.

She stated that due to appeals from teachers across the country, the collation of the applications, which opened on Wednesday May 20, 2015 had been extended to Friday July 24, 2015 to give more time for more entries into the competition.

She advised those still interested in the competition to download the application forms from the website and upload to the site or return through the company’s office mail box in Marina, Lagos.

Tonukari added that all applications would be subjected to intense selection process by external and independent panel of judges, which had been constituted to ensure transparency, credibility and objectivity of the exercise.

She also disclosed that the state champions and the overall winner would be celebrated in a grand event on Monday October 5, 2015, the United Nations World Teachers Day.

“We hope that through this initiative, we can inspire the nation to accord our teachers their deserved credit and bring back respect to the teaching profession in Nigeria,” she stressed.

Tonukari stressed that the objective of the award was to create an avenue where exceptional teachers would be showcased and rewarded yearly and continuously.
