It was wild jubilation by fans as Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Wednesday at the Aper Aku Stadium recorded its first win of the season in the 10 weeks old Globacom League  season with a 1-0 win over Heartland FC of Owerri.

Reports said as early at the 10th minute, two chances went begging for the home side with Akleche Enokela firing over the bar and Josiah Maduabuchi weak header easily gathered.

However, Heartland got the first shot on target with Fred Okwara bringing out a smart save from returning Lobi Stars first choice goalkeeper, Terkaa Melai, who punched clear for a corner.

The Makurdi-based side that was searching for its first win of the season got the lucky break in the 19th minute when new signing, Abdulrahman Bashir, struck on target for the lead.

Bashir missed out on a chance to score a brace as the former ABS and Enyimba forward missed a glorious chance shooting wide with the net at his mercy, five minutes to the half time break.

Bright Ejike came close to drawing Heartland level in the second half just as Josiah Madaubuchi also wasted a clear chance to increase his side lead.

However, at the Aba Township Stadium, Enyimba International FC beat El Kanemi Warriors 3-1 to emphasis its resurgence for the league title race, just as the defending champions, Kano Pillars also got a maximum point against visiting Gabros  of Nnewi in Kano, winning 2-1.

Also, Sunshine Stars of Akure maintained its leadership role, beating Kwara United 1-0 at the Akure Township Stadium.

In Uyo Shooting Stars of Ibadan could not sustain its early lead as it fell 1-2 to Akwa United at the end of the game.
