The Lions Club International has commended the management of Independent Newspapers Limited (INL) for its commitment in raising digital awareness in the media industry through numerous services on its platform.

Taiwo Adewunmi, the club’s district governor, who spoke during a visit to the company’s head office in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, said with the level of investment in the media outfit, it was clear  that the organisation understood the role of digital media and its influence as a big tool to shape the future.

Adewunmi, who disclosed that the tour was part of the orientation about the club’s centenary anniversary coming up next year, stated that he was delighted that INL was already looking into the future, stressing that the vision of the company in that regard aligns with one of its objectives as the organisation celebrates its centenary.

He said, “It is our pleasure to be in your midst. We appreciate your warm hospitality. I have learnt a lot of things with the little time I have spent. With what I have seen, I must commend your effort. No one can dismiss the fact that the technology infrastructure in this organisation is superb.

“We would be glad if the media organisation can offer us the necessary support as we embark on this humanitarian gesture.”

Responding on behalf of Independent, Mr. Steve Omanufeme, Editor, said the media outfit was ready to support the club, adding that club’s vision aligns with that of INL.
