Life Insurance: 60 Families Of Late Police Officers Get N100m In Calabar

The Nigeria Police, on Thursday in Calabar, Cross River State, presented cheques totaling N100 million under the Life Insurance Scheme to beneficiary families under the Zone Six Police Command.

The command comprises four states of Ebonyi, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

The presentation exercise undertaken on behalf of the Inspector General of Police by the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone Six Police commend, AIG Baba Bolanta, took place at the commend headquarters in Calabar.

AIG Balanta explained that the Life Insurance Scheme was put in place by the Police authority to take care and ameliorate the suffering of the family members of Police personnel who in the course of their job lost their life or suffer injuries from accident.

He said the beneficiaries being attended to are 60 in numbers cutting across the four states in the command and urged the benefiting family members to ensure that the utilize whatever they get wisely in other the meet the purpose for which the scheme was put in place.

The first to collect as a next of kin was one Ogar John who got the cheque value of N1.5million. Another beneficiary, Miracle Okoye got N1.1million. The highest value among the cheques given out was N1.9 million and the lease cheque value of N100, 000.was given to Sgnt. Donatus Okpara who is an accident victim but still in service.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Osaro Daniel, Mary Afensuwu and Donatus Okpara all thanked the Inspector General of Police and said what they got will go a long way in assisting members of their families.

Little Osaro Daniel said he lost his father last year and that his father had two of them so the money will assist them and their mother in paying the school fees and other things.

The beneficiary families from all the four states under the Zone Six Police Command were invited to the command headquarters for the event.
