Libya have opted to play their 2018 Fifa World Cup qualification games in neighbouring Egypt, can report.
According to the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) president, Anwar Al-Tishani, the decision to play the upcoming qualifying matches is due to the existing ban on the country by the African football apex body, Caf.
Al-Tishani’s board has come under severe criticism in the country for failing to convince Caf to lift the ban on playing football games in Libya.
The Libyan FA boss has claimed that the decision to file for lifting of the ban on holding matches in Libya does not rest with the LFF alone as it is a “state case.”
However, it is likely that the North African nation will make a formal demand asking Caf to lift the ban during its next general assembly.
Libya are drawn in Group A of the qualifiers in Africa alongside Tunisia, DR Congo and Guinea.
