Leadership Crises Rock Abia PPA Ahead Of LG Polls

Aba – Ahead of the local government elections in Abia State, leadership crises have begin to rock the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) as a new fraction emerged Wednesday with a letter and showed it to the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) Chairman, stating that Hon. Emeka Okafor the elected chairman of PPA has been removed.

It could be recalled during a meeting yesterday by Abia state Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) with All the Registered Political parties in Abia state, where the elected Chairmen of the parties were seated, representing their various party, a man simply identify as Igbokwe who is a youth leader in one of the wards disrupted the meeting with a letter claiming to be representing the authentic state Chairman of the party.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Umuahia on this development, the state Chairman of the party Hon Emeka Okafor in conjunction with the executives of the party insist that the elected Chairman remains the Chairman of the party for the next four years as stipulated by the party constitution.

His speech partly reads” the scenario that played out at the ABSIEC office yesterday was indeed a big embarrassment to the party and to me as an elected chairman of the party whose tenure is to serve for four years and there are procedures to remove an elected state chairman of the party”

”according to Igbokwe he said the letter he is holding was signed by one National Secretary of the party, to the best of my knowledge and that of my executives here present, I was not given any query, there was no National Executive Council (NEC)meeting to determined or announced my suspension or removal as the state chairman”

”there are laws guiding a political party, if am truly removed as the state Chairman I should be serve a letter to that effect, if PPA remove me as the state chairman following the lay down laws, I will humbly bow out, PPA is a political party and therefore must respect the law guiding a political party”

He said he is a wear of one barrister perfect who parades himself as the acting state chairman of the party nothing that the letter in circulation is fraudulent and investigation is ongoing on the status of the letter.

The state Chairman urged party members who wish to contest the forth coming Local Government Polls to visit the state secretariat of the party to obtain their nomination forms nothing that the party will sue ABSIEC if they accept nomination forms from any fractional group.
