The member representing Isoko South 11 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Johnson Erijo, has lambasted security agencies and other concerned bodies for their inability to tackle the menace of cattle rearers across the state.

He poited out that that there were several enabling laws on grazing passed by the State House of Assembly that were not being implemented by the authorities concerned, while

calling for their enforcements.

Erijo, who decried the reoccurring crashes between several communities in parts of the state and cattle rearers, said that his constituency had been grappling with the problem for a very long time.

Erijo, who called for urgent steps to arresting the ugly situation, said that the enabling laws on grazing if implemented would go a long way to addressing the issue.

He called on relevant agencies to rise to their responsibilities as provided by the enabling laws and to ensure that law and order prevail over impunity, saying that it has been observed that some of the cattle rearers have no respect for human lives.

Speaking on the ‘Take a Bow and Go’ trend in the screening of political office appointees at both state and National Assembly, Erijo said nothing much could be done in drilling the appointees as portfolios were not attached to the letter to the house on the appointment.

He said that the only area available to the lawmakers is the area of qualification as required by the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria which centered on age, academic qualification among others.

Erijo commended Deltans for their support to the state government, assuring that much would be achieved for the state by the present administration in the state led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
