At Last, Webo,  Wanted Notorious Robbery Suspect In SARS, Net

Wahab Hassan a.k.a Webo who had been on the wanted list of the Lagos State Police Command has finally been arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad.

Several arrested suspected armed robbers and cultists operating along the Badagry axis of Lagos State had fingered Webo, who they claimed was their leader and owner of the guns with which they operated.

The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu confirmed that the suspected criminal was arrested last week.

He said the arrested suspect had been on the wanted list of the police for the past four years.

Webo who was said to be a  robbery specialist robbing  fast food joints, restaurants, business men and women on business trips to neighboring Benin Republic.

He was alleged to have attacked series of restaurant along Okokomaiko, Ajamgbadi, Agbara, Morogbo and Badagry axis where customers and operators were forced to lie down while monies and valuables were stolen from them.

He accused of leading an 8-man gang to attack De -Sholly Filling Station manager on 23rd February, 2015 in Badagry, where N6.8million was snatched from the petro station boss after he was shot on his armpit.

In his confession, the suspect said, “My name is Hassan Wahab, but friends call me Webo. I was born in 1984. I am a Lagosian from Badagry. I live at 17 Akinola Street, Igando. I am a welder by profession, but I don’t have a shop.

“I work as a journeyman. I am single. My father and mother live at Agbara. I am the third born of seven children.”

On the allegation leveled against him, he said, “ police arrested me for armed robbery. We robbed at Agbara in Ogun State. We robbed De-Sholly filling station. We collected N6.8million. We were eight in number. I got N800, 000 as my share. In fact, I was the one that shared the money. I used part of my share to rent house at Ifon Road along Cele Bus Stop in Ogun State.

“The house was a room and parlor. I bought a motorcycle also. We have carried out robbery operations for about six times. I robbed a cyber cafe in Okokomaiko with my gang and collected monies, phones and lap tops. We shared the items among ourselves. I got phones and lap top. I sold the lap top for N48, 000 at Alaba. We robbed an eatery at Shibiri Road, Ajamgbadi. The operation was carried out at about 8pm. We got only N30, 000 and four phones. We were four in number in the operation. Other three are still at large. I collected one of the biggest phones and N5, 000.

“We also robbed a restaurant along Okokomaiko Road. it was about 8pm with the same gang . We made only N12, 000 and two phones. I got N4, 000.

We robbed a beer parlour in Ajamgbadi and collected N22, 000 from the lady who operates the business during her closing hours.

“We also operated after attending a function at o Gateway Polytechnic in Ogun State. The people invited us for matriculation. The people were cult boys. I am a member of Eiye confraternity. I am the fourth man in that cult. When we were coming back, we entered a car wash at Ogun State and stole N6, 000 and one phone. We were with only one gun. Four of us carried out the operation; myself, Ochuko, Henry and one other guy I cannot remember the name.

“I have a gun, Hefty has a one, Baba Iyabo has two guns. I bought my gun from one Omonile for N17, 000. We have never killed nor wound anyone during operation except at the filling station. It was Hefty (Nduka) that fired him. He lives at Iba Estate. I feel bad for leading a robbery gang. Cultism led me to all these mess”.
