Prince Don Ekefre, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has praised the out-going governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, for working hard to ensure the success of Udom Emmanuel in the just-concluded governorship election in the state.

This is coming on the heels of protests and mixed reactions from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as other commentators on the PDP’s alleged “scientific rigging” of the election in favour of Udom, who is seen as Akpabio’s anointed candidate.

Ekefre said, despite the protests and mixed feelings, Akpabio performed well in delivering democracy dividends at the people of Akwa Ibom.

“Having successfully ruled the state, the out-going governor has moved to the senate to continue on higher portals in the service of God and humanity for Nigeria,” he said.

He advised the APC in Akwa Ibom to stop heating the polity, but instead channel their grievances to the election tribunal.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having released the governorship results in the state, cannot go back to conduct fresh election again.

“Like every political party in the country, APC in Akwa Ibom State should be able to convince the tribunal with hard facts, not propaganda, on how the governorship election in the state was rigged or otherwise should hold its peace,” Ekefre said
