Lawmakers elected to serve in the eighth session of the Lagos State House of Assembly have received their certificates of return at the state secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with a promise to make life better for the people of the state.

32 of the lawmakers were elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while eight others were elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, the lawmaker currently representing Epe Constituency 1 in the Assembly, Abiodun Tobun explained that the exercise was another milestone; and that it was the beginning of a four-year journey.

“I thank the people of Epe Constituency 1 for giving me another opportunity to represent them at the Lagos State House of Assembly. I expect that we would have a more robust assembly with new ideas. The people should be expecting greater things to come, Lagos is a state of excellence and we will come out with brilliant ideas,” Tobun said.

A ranking member of the House, who is returning for a third term to represent Lagos Mainland Constituency 2, Olanrewaju Oshun thanked God for the victory at the polls, saying: “If you know the Lagos State House of Assembly, we always live beyond common standard of excellence; it is about standard; it is about bringing development to the people.”
