The Igbobi College Old Boys Association, (ICOBA), Yaba, Lagos, has commended the Lagos State Government for returning the schools to the missionaries, stressing that this will serve as vehicle of very meaningful progress and expansion of the education sector.

This was established at the 2015 Open Day of its Alma Mata. The Open Day, which held recently, was an opportunity for participants to deliberate on the state of the education sector of the country and the wellbeing of the school, its management and students.

In her submission, the National President Igbobi College Old Boys Association,Yaba, Lagos (ICOBA), the Chairman, Board of Governors, Dr (Mrs.) Olufemi Ogunsanya, said, “For Nigeria to regain her lost glory, meaningful strides must be taken with such determination, especially in the education industry, to reposition the prevailing obsolete infrastructure.”

Dignitaries took turn to proffer solutions to the nation’s problem as it concerns education, which is at the roots of the national decadence.

Very Revd Oludare Adeboyejo, who is the school’s head teacher remarked thus: “All the stakeholders in the sector especially, the schools, parents, guardians, as well as the Parents Teachers Association members, should form such a synergy, coupled with a regular monitoring of their proposal and its execution in the industry to the ultimate realisation of such very meaningful goals at all times.”

Also at the event, past Chairman of the school’s Parents/Teachers Association, Mr. Lanre Thorpe, advised the government to avoid distractions on its plans to securing a better future for the younger generation, who are leaders of tomorrow.

“Governments at all levels and other members of the ruling class should avoid unnecessary incursions or distractions for a formidable, secured, improved tomorrow for the children they were expected to nurture to a very reliable success,” he said.

The 2015 school’s Open House was geared towards showcasing the school’s activities and achievements, as well as to deepen rapport between the parents, guardians and members of the society who would in the future patronise the school.

The event which created such an enviable avenue for a brain storming session among all concerned, also proffered solutions to some key challenges which hitherto, had emanated from the government forcible acquisition and takeover of schools nationwide, especially in Lagos State.

To this end, they indentified noble roles of such Parents, Guardians, other Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, on their dogged strides to sustain such enviable high standard, that Igbobi College Yaba students have been known for for over the years and to date. Prominent among such recipients, are the Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Vice President-elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, other notable administrators around the nation and beyond.

A visit to several Departments and  Structures of the School, which had undergone complete renovation and restructuring, subsequently, culminated in the call for very worthy, adequate financial and moral support to the students and the entire Igbobi College Community to proudly sustain such an enviable, unparalleled, feat for which the school had always be noted.

They therefore acknowledged the glowing contributions of the schools founding fathers and also charged the incumbent administrators, not to relent on their oars, but with discipline and principle put the school on the global map of educational excellence at all times.

Highlights of the events, were the facility tour of the school campus, as well as the presentation of free 2015 Entrance Examination Forms donated by the ICOBA National President, Engr. Murphy Ipaye, members, Schools Board of Governors, Sir Olusegun George, Elder Bode Akin-Bankole, other members of the Parents Teachers Association, to afford the eight Pupils of the God’s Grace School Eyiowuawi Street, Somolu, Lagos, the singular opportunity to write the school’s admissions examination on Saturday, 9th May 2015 at the school premises.
