Lagos CP Begins Mass Restructuring

There are indications that some officers at the Lagos State Police Command may be affected in the looming mass restructuring of some police units and formations in the state.

Daily Independent gathered that the State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, is taking the measure to achieve a more effective policing in the state.

Sources said that the police chief would likely restructure the Police Vandalism Unit, X-Squad, Human Rights Office and Crack Squad.

It would be recalled that while taking over from Aderanti Kayode, the immediate past Police Commissioner in Lagos recently, Owoseni promised to scrutinise the commands security architecture to serve Lagos better.

Also, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) may also be restructured or overhauled soon, a senior police officer, who spoke off records said at the weekend.

It is likely that Adamu Ahmadu, the Divisional Police Officer of Igando Police Station; Lagos could be deployed to Lagos SARS as Officer-In-Charge.

Police sources hinted that with the re-structuring, there will be mass deployment and transfer of senior and junior police officers within and outside Lagos.

Police Relations Officer for Lagos, Kenneth Nwosu, could not be reached for official comment on the issue as at the time of filling this report.
