The   affected workers said they got the boot because they signified their intent to be unionised in order to improve their working conditions.

The ASSBIFI and Trade Union Congress (TUC) officials, who besieged the company’s premises around7am displayed placards and punctured the activities of the company.

Some of the inscriptions include: “300 workers sacked during Ramadan haba; Alpha-Beta have no respect for government, law and humanity; Injustice to humanity must stop,’’ among others.

Addressing the protesters, Deputy President of ASSBIFI, Comrade Olasanoye Oyinkan, deplored the action of the company in the face of economic hardship in the country.

She explained that before the company sacked the workers, they  reported to the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, but before the meeting, Alpha-Beta had gone ahead to sack 300 workers.
