Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), on Tuesday, pickets the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) as a result of alleged plan to sack 1,000 workers.

It would be recalled that ASCSN had concluded plans to call out thousands of its members on indefinite strike if the ill-advised plan to issue sack letters to over 1,000 employees of NIMC is eventually carried out.

The union disrupted the activities of the NIMC, while the workers were not allowed to gain entrance.

Addressing newsmen, ASCSN Assistant General-Secretary, Princewill Akamo said that the Director-General of NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemenam in year 2012 sacked 5,000 workers, contending that their members are yet to recover from the effect.

He said: “5,000 workers were sacked in 2012 and I am sure that no minister or President made attempt to sack employers. The action has done a lot of damage to civil servants and we are not happy with the situation,”

He also alleged that the NIMC DG had sacked the graduates employed for the national identity card and gave out the responsibility to the people who handled network registration.
