Labour Is Dying In Abia State, Factional Abia State NLC Chairman Cries-Out

A faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abia State has cried out over the gradual collapse of labour in the State revealing that the slide can be witnessed in the spate of crisis and litigations before the National Industrial Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State.

Expressing the disappoint of organized labour in the State, a factional NLC Chairman in the State Comrade Christopher Ezekiel in his address presented at the May day celebration in Abia sai, “the NLC is about collapsing if nothing is done now by the true Veterans of the Labour.

“Some Labor leaders in Abia State are no longer interested in the defense, protection and welfare of workers but only interested of in what they can derive or get from the government”.

“”The NLC may wish to inform all Abia workers that the low key or street to street May day 2016 celebration or sit at home celebration is not intentional but as a result of the two factions which began in 2014 nationwide up to 2016”.

“Untailored establishment circulars which affected almost the industrial/trade unions contrary to the labour Law 2005”,
“NLC is urgently calling on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to wade into the matters affecting the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE) and Medical and Health workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) with the National Industrial Court Order and interpreted by the sitting Attorney- General of the State which is being relegated with impunity and disobedience to the order of the Court’’.
