The text for this message is found in Eph.4:17-29 and it reads thus: “Thus I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened being alienated from the life of God … If so that ye have heard him … ye put off … the old ma … And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.  And that ye put on the new man … wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor … Be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.  Neither give place to the devil.  Let him that stole steal no more … Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth … And be ye kind one to another even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

From the above passages, we discovered that those who are born again should behave differently from those who are yet to receive the light of God.  Our attitudes and actions in our offices, at home, in the market and everywhere should show that we have received the Light of God.  We are new creatures in Christ Jesus.  We have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.  Every kingdom has a king and rules/regulations that guide the kingdom.  In order to enjoy the benefit of our new kingdom, holiness, righteousness, integrity, faith, gentleness and peace should characterize our lives.  Lying, fornication, adultery, wickedness and witchcraft should not be found in us.

As we grow in grace through meditation on the word of God and prayer, godliness will begin to characterize our lives.  Vanity would be set aside and the glory of God will be revealed in us.

The king of our kingdom is Lord Jesus.  In order to enjoy the benefit of the kingdom, we must have a right relationship with him.

Correct Relationship With Jesus

At the very beginning of our new life with God, this relationship takes two dominant forms:

1. Saviour

This is the very first relationship we can ever have with Jesus.  We cannot know God as Father or Friend until we first have had a revelation of Jesus as Saviour.  Jesus is the source or the author of eternal salvation for all who obey him (Heb.5:8-9).  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one can get to God except by him.  So, if you want to relate with God, it must be through Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Acts 4:12 says “Neither is thy salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.”  Jesus is THE Saviour of the world.  Jesus is not a way but THE only way back to God for salvation.

2. Lord

Knowing Jesus as Saviour brings us into God’s kingdom, but that is not where our relationship with him ends.  We know him not merely as Saviour but as Lord – Our Lord.  He is the king in the kingdom (Col.2:6) – where Jesus becomes the Lord of our lives, we find that his dominion in our lives brings us out of the chains of sin into divine order and peace (Col.2:9-10, 1 Cor.8:6).

As members of Christ’s kingdom we enter into a Master-Servant relationship with him (Mt.6:24). Jesus came to do his Father’s will (Heb.10:5-9).  He lived to please the Father, we are to have this servant-heart, just as he had.  We are to please him in all things.  We are to allow him to rule our lives.  His purpose we must serve.  Part of the principles are stated in our above quoted text of this sermon. Wherever he sends, we must go.  Obedience to Christ brings liberty and blessings into our lives.

Benefit Of His Reign

When we allow Christ to rule our lives, we will experience peace, joy and progress.  His reign over our lives will checkmate the devil.  When He is in charge, Satan cannot rule us except we give him chance.

Divine security becomes ours.  He will protect you from witches and wicked people of this life.  Devil and his agents will lose their grips over your life.  The abundant life that Jesus brought (John 10:10) will become yours.
