Kidnapped Banker Regains Freedom In Delta

The Delta State Police Command on Thursday rescued Mr Gabriel Okosun, a 42-year-old staff of Sterling Bank PLC, Warri, from kidnappers.

It coincided with the rescue of the kidnapped former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Afenifere Leader, Chief Olu Falae who was kidnapped last Monday.

The victim was kidnapped Wednesday by some armed men at Orhuwuron junction, Aladja, while driving in his Honda car in company of two others.

His captors took him to an unknown place in the bush and chained him to a tree, but he however succeeded in loosening himself before his rescue.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Delta State, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Celestina Kalu, confirmed the development, adding that operatives of Dragon Patrol Team 17 on patrol at Ughelli axis received information that an unknown man in chain was sighted in the bush along Oviri-Ogor village road, Ughelli. She said that sequel to the information the operatives immediately moved to the scene and successfully recued the victim.           

Kalu said investigation had commenced while efforts are on to apprehend his abductors.

In a similar development detectives from Obiaruku Division have arrested a 19-year-old suspected cultist, Ikechukwu Azubuike, over cult related offences.

He was arrested behind Catholic Hospital Obiaruku at Obiuaruku Motor Park while trying to leave the town.

The suspect, who has confessed his membership of Spy cult group, was alleged to have been involved in a recent cult clash in the area that left three persons dead. Kalu also said investigation is in progress
