The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, on Saturday, reaffirmed the election of the immediate past governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, as the Senator duly elected to represent the People of Plateau North Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate in the April election, Eunice Ayisa Sambo, had gone to the tribunal to seek justice over alleged irregularities that trailed the conduct of the elections in some local government areas of the district.

Delivering Judgement which lasted for over four hours, the chairman of the National Assembly Election  Tribunal,  Lanre Akeredolu, said  the petitioner failed to prove her case beyond reasonable doubt, stressing  that most of principal witnesses were not electoral officers and party agents at the polling units where irregularities were said to have been committed.

Akeredolu awarded N200,000 against the petitioner in favour of the defendant, Senator Jonah Jang.

Reacting to the judgment, Senator Jang, in a statement, by his Media aide, Chris Gyang, said, “This judgment has gone a long way to further confirm the confidence and trust of the electorate in me and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
