Four hours after twitter received the first tweet announcing the transition of Bruce Jenner to the life of a woman, with Caitlyn Jenner as new identity, the former Olympic athlete and reality TV star received more than a million followers setting a new Twitter record.

This, as confirmed by the Guinness World Records meant she has beaten Barack Obama, who held the title for two weeks. The US president reached the one million mark in five hours.

Caitlyn launched her Twitter account at the same time as a Vanity Fair magazine cover was released, showing her as a transgender woman and revealing the name she will now be using.

In the Vanity Fair article, it was revealed that Jenner, 65, a former decathlon champion, underwent a 10-hour facial-reconstruction surgery in March to look more like a woman, but has not decided on sex change surgery. It also talks about Jenner’s struggles with transgender dysphoria since her youth.

Reacting to the new record, Jenner, through her twitter handle, ?@Caitlyn_Jenner , tweeted, “Another Jenner world record, and at 65? Who’da thought! Humbled and honored to have reached 1M followers in 4 hrs.”
