The Immediate Past  Commissioner  of Finance  in Plateau state Mr Davou Mang has disclosed that the immediate past Government  of  the state, senator Jonah Jang  created assets base  worth N200 billion before  the end of  its tenure  in May 2015.

Mang in an interview with Daily Independent in Jos said  the immediate past regime in Plateau state succeeded in creating asset base of  more than N200 billion in projects  and interventions such as roads, agriculture , health and education .

He wondered why  people have not seen asset base created by the Jang administration, but are busy hammering on liabilities alone

According to Mang, people should not forget that in government, there asserts and there are liabilities

On the  actual  total  amount of indebtedness left behind  by Senator Jang’s administration for Governor Lalong to inherit ,Mang  said :’’ we left a debt profile of N115 billion  which  were made up of debts, liabilities and others” .

According to him, as at the time the Jang administration winded up in the state, Commercial Bank loans that was handed over to the new administration in the state stood at N19.6 billion, which he said could be verified from anywhere, saying  the financing bond of Jang administration deflated  the balance  which was as at that time  N26.9 billion

He also disclosed that the inter agency loans the Jang’s administration borrowed from some of its agencies was to the tune of N6.1 billion.

According to him, as at the time Jang administration left  there were certain liabilities and obligations that were  left behind, which were among some contractual sums, contract arrears  and some certificates that government had approved work done but were not paid to the tune of about  N25 million and other liabilities of N125 million.

He added that when ex-Governor  left office, salaries arrears  that were yet to be paid was up to  the tune of:  N10 billion, Pension and gratuities N9.5 billion, leave grants allowances of N146 million, severance  gratuity  for political Office holders   N635 million giving a total of N20 billion.

Mang urged the new administration of Governor lalong to differentiate between Bank debts, contractual liabilities and staff claims in the liabilities.

He however  denied  that  Senator Jang left behind a debt  of over N222 billion as alleged by the new administration in the state, arguing  may be  the new administration  might have mistaken  and added to the debt figure projects that were awarded, and were yet to start before Jang regime came to an end .
