Edo Election: Group Advises Ize-Iyamu To Emulate Jonathan, Accept Defeat

Benin – Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has  won the Edo State governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the flagbearer of the party in the September 10 election.

In the contest, which was  held in the indoor hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, 584 party delegates spread across the 18 local government areas of the state voted in his favour.

Coming second was ex-NDDC (Niger Delta Development Commission) chieftain, Mathew Iduoriyekemwen who polled 91 votes.

Trailing in third position was Solomon Edebiri, a Port Harcourt –based  businessman who  scored 38 votes.

Earlier, before the commencement of the voting process, Dave Umuahi, Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman Of The Electoral Committee, had called for unity among all the party faithful  so that the party can win the forthcoming governorship poll in the state.

Also reacting to the victory of Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a chieftain of the party from Bayelsa State, Miriki Ebikibina, who witnessed the entire proceedings, said that the emergence of Pastor Ize-Iyamu as the party’s standard bearer has not only positioned him as better prepared for the task of governance but reassuring the people of the state that the better days and the future is now.

The primaries was also witnessed by the governor of Delta State, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa among other eminent party members across the country.
