Frontline politician and chairman of the Peoples Democratic  Party (PDP) Elders Council, Imo State, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has warned the  leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to beware of

the influx of defectors  from the PDP who he described  as a bunch of impostors and false prophets in  sheep’s  clothing.

Chief Iwuanyanwu  who sounded the note of warning while briefing newsmen after a crucial meeting of the council  attributed the outcome of the governorship election in the state to lack of  sincerity and

betrayal of trust by  some members of the  PDP who falsely pretended to be working for the  success of the party but were actually bought over by the All Progressive Congress  to pull the party down.

Chief Iwuanyanwu who is a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the PDP cited the case of a particular chieftain of the party from the Ikeduru Local Government Area who had all along paraded himself as a political disciple of the party’s governorship candidate but was later discovered to have collected huge sum of money from the APC to deliver the later in his own LGA.

“We have known those who are not reliable and who should not be trusted. Some of them left us immediately after the presidential election and the APC should beware of these chameleons because they were the same people who shamelessly destroyed the PDP” he cautioned.

Chief Iwuanyanwu who displayed reservation about the governorship election in the state for alleged irregularities described the governorship candidate of the party Chief Emeka Ihedioha as a man of honour and fame who has over the year’s distinguished himself as a party  loyalists, insisting that the party has no regret  fielding him as her standard bearer.

He said that the PDP is still taking a critical look at the results of the governorship election in the state as announced by the INEC and would make its position known to the public after this.

He therefore enjoined all member and supporters of the  party not to be dismayed and demoralized by the outcome of the polls, promising that the  leadership  of  the party would soon commence efforts to

re-energise and to re-position  the party ahead of  the 2019 general elections, expressing  optimism that  the  largest political party  in black Africa would definitely bounce back to power.
