The Ansar- Ud-Deen youth Association of Nigeria (ADYAN), Lagos branch, has risen in defense of President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointments of his kitchen cabinet who are mainly northerners, saying it is too early to judge him.

The appointments of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF) and the Chief of Staff which were made recently was greeted by an uproar especially from other sections of the country who have started accusing the President of pursuing a northern agenda.

But the association at a press conference to herald its 2015 annual youth week urged Nigerians to wait till Buhari unveil his list of ministerial nominees before crucifying him.

Speaking through its chairman, Mr. Taofeek Muritala, the association said the appointments were within the prerogative of the President saying he was free to choose whoever he wished as his close aides.

“The major appointments are still coming up. I think it is too early to say that the northern hegemony or the northern powers are back. Let us wait till he appoints his Ministers before we begin to talk of lopsidedness in appointments”, he said.

On the issue of probe of past administration being championed by Buhari, he urged the President not to spare anybody found wanting irrespective of his political affiliation.

“We are in total support of the probe and it should not be targeted at opposition only; anybody that has stolen money belonging to this country should be probed”.
