Ughelli – The Wednesday morning explosion that rocked the Agip oil field in Okpaivie quarters of Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, has been described as a mere gas leakage resulting to explosion and not militant attack as earlier speculated by indigenes of the community.

Reacting to the heavy destruction that attracted large crowd to the facilities on Wednesday, Chief Idu, one of the leaders of the community during an inspection tour, urged the villagers to remain calm over the situation, as the company was already in the process of fixing the damages.

Those who witnessed the explosion had earlier attributed it to attack by vandals, following an earlier explosion of the Isoko Development Union secretariat by suspected assailants.
