The people of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, under the aegis of Isoko North Elders/Leaders Council, have pledged their support to the in-coming administration of Governor-elect, Ifeanyi Okowa.

The people gave the assurance on Monday when the leadership of the council, led by Chief A. P. J. Okpakpor, paid a courtesy visit on the Governor-elect at his residence in Asaba.

The group, which expressed joy with the outcome of the April 11, 2015 governorship election in Delta State that saw Okowa emerging as winner, noted that the overwhelming support and votes from Deltans for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was a confirmation of his grassroots reach and wide acceptance across the state.

“It was a pleasant excitement when you emerged candidate of PDP on December 8, 2014, in transparent, credible, free and fair primaries. Our joy became buoyed when you were eventually declared winner in a landslide manner at the general elections on April 11, 2015. You are in your familiar terrain hence we have no doubts in our minds that you will succeed as Governor of Delta State after passing through the crucible of politics in Nigeria,” the group stated.

While praying God to guide and grant Senator Okowa and his team the necessary wisdom to pilot the affairs of Delta State, Chief Okpakpor expressed hope that Delta State would experience profound change under the leadership of Okowa, who he described as a detribalised Deltan and focused leader.
