Iraqi Troops Kill ISIS ‘Governor’

Iraqi army authorities have announced that troops and volunteers (Hashd al-Shaabi) killed a prominent ISIS leader in the Nineveh province of the country on Tuesday.

Mohammad Ahmad Sha’yeb, an ISIS ‘governor,’ was killed by Iraqi government troops near the city of Mosul in the Northern part of Nineveh province.

Irag has been making advances toward Mosul, held by ISIS, in a bid to reclaim it.

Ahmad Sha’yeb was the third ISIS commander to be killed by the Iraqi army over last 48 hours, the Iraqi defense ministry announced on Tuesday.

“We have liberated at least 10 ISIS-controlled villages, including Qudila, Qarmadi, Mahanah, Khattab, al-Nasr, Hamidat and Kharbardan since Thursday, during military operations to take control of Mosul city, which is located 400 kilometres to the North of Baghdad,” Brigadier General Najm Abdollah al-Jubouri said.
