The National Secretariat of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has described as baseless the planned strikeby some groups within its fold.

“The threat is baseless and is the handiwork of some faceless people who are unhappy with the progress witnessed in the downstream oil sector recently,” a release signed by it National Secretary, Alhaji Danladi Pasali and which was made available to Daily Independent said. “At no time that the national secretariat or its regional/ zonal officials issued any ultimatum for strike action to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), instead, the association commended the effort so far by the corporation in the distribution process of the fuel.

“The name of Dr Emmanuel Ihedigbo who claimed to be the chairman of the Council of Elders of IPMAN and issued the ultimatum didn’t exist in the register of the association and that there is no such position in IPMAN.

“THE IPMAN Secretariat urges all government officials and the NNPC to ignore such threats and regard it as distraction. ”
