Former Nigeria international Dominic Iorfa, has denied reports that his son Dominic Iorfa Jr has made up his mind on a move to West Ham United this summer.
The elder Iorfa condemned the reports attributed to “family sources” and that the Wolverhampton Wanderers player has not yet made a decision.
“It’s a lie and I wonder where that came from,” Iorfa, who played for Queens Park Rangers, said in a statement made available to Goal by his publicist, Ojeikere Aikhoje.
“Although he is wanted by several Premier League clubs, the final decision is a subject for his representatives and the club.
“As a professional footballer, he cannot be selective. Moreover, he is happy at Wolves and has an excellent working relationship with the club,” Iorfa Snr. added.
The 20-year-old emerged Wolves’ Best Young Professional for the second year running during the club’s End-of-Season Awards, held in May.
He was also very influential as the England U21s won the Toulon Tournament in France.
Iorfa has been drawing interest from top clubs including Crystal Palace, West Ham and Arsenal.
The youngster has also been a focus of interest by Nigeria, his father’s homeland. However, the father has previously told Goal that it is a decision for his son to make.
““I want my boy to decide for himself and I am very sure he would like to play for Nigeria his father’s country,” Iorfa Snr. told Goal.
What I am after is for him to continue to improve as a football player.”
