Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has offered scholarship to children of slain police officers who lost their lives while fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the North East region.

Solomon Arase stated this yesterday at the State Police headquarters in Bauchi during a one day working visit to the command.

He said “the children of our gallant officers who died while on duty as a result of insurgency will be offered scholarship”

Solomon Arase assured that the welfare of police officers will be paramount on his priorities, saying that they are the front-line soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation.

He said “I am passionate about your welfare because you are the front-line soldiers of the nation. Your welfare should be paramount and as such, you should be treated nicely”

He promised to foot the bills of 36,000 officers attending promotion training course in the nation and cater for other expenses in the course of their  training, adding that police officers tends to be corrupt because of fear of the unknown.

“Corruption is born out of the fear of the unknown .When you are not sure of the future, the tendency to be corrupt is very high, so after retiring from the force, you will be given a befitting accommodation,” he said.
