Insurers To Examine Impacts Of Business Environment On Industry

Stakeholders in the Nigerian insurance industry are converging in Abeokuta, Ogun State for the 2015 edition of Insurance Professionals’ Forum holding from September 16 to 19, to discuss the implications of the business environment on the nation’s insurance industry.

The forum organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria offers immense opportunities for robust deliberations on the issues pertinent to the growth and development of the insurance industry, the profession and practice. The forum will anchor its deliberations on the theme; “The Nigerian Business Environment: Implications for the Insurance Industry”.

CIIN Director-General, Kola Ahmed, said the forum’s theme aptly captures the dynamic and unique nature of the Nigerian business environment and the opportunities therein for the Nigerian insurance industry in its drive to upscale its relevance in the national economy.

An array of respected speakers has been invited to address the forum topics. These are: Commissioner for Insurance, Muhammed Kari will deliver the Keynote Address, Wole Oshin, MD, Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc will present a paper on “Opportunities and Returns in the Nigerian Business Environment”

Ganiyu Musa, MD, Cornerstone Insurance Plc will speak on “Critical Success Factors for Market Penetration and Expansion Strategies” while Wole Oshin, MD, Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc will speak on “Investment Strategies for Insurance Business Success”.

Ms. Adetola Adegbayi, ED, Leadway Assurance Company Ltd will be presenting a paper on “Imperatives of Corporate Social Responsibility”  while Emmanuel Okunoren, Deputy President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers will deliver a paper on “Optimising the Role of Brokers in the Insurance Value Chain”.

Similarly, Dr. Femi Oyetunji, MD, Continental Reinsurance Plc will be presenting a paper on “Reinsurance as a Strategic Risk Management Tool for Underwriting Profitability”.

President of the Institute, Lady Isioma Chukwuma called on insurance professionals to see the forum as a unique opportunity for continuous professional education and their personal growth and development for career progression.

As at the last count, over 300 participants had been registered, the Director General of CIIN said, adding that he expects the forum to record an unprecedented level of attendance.
