The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continued the release of official results from the Edo State governorship election after resuming from break minutes after 12 noon in Benin City, the state capital.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) raised the bar, after the results of the first  nine local government showed it won in five, leaving four for its major contender in the two-horse raise- the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In results of five other Local Government Areas released after the break, the APC is holding on to four: Owan East, Etsako Central, Etsako Central and Ovia North East; leaving the PDP with Esan Central. This brings the table to nine LGAs for APC and five for PDP

In Owan East the APC garnered 21,233 of the 34,599 total valid votes, as against the PDP’s 12,889; just as it clinched victory in Etsako East LGA with 18,078 votes to the PDP’s 12,552 from 30,858 valid votes.

In Etsako Central LGA also won with 10,373 of the 20,145 accredited votes cast, leaving its main challenger with 8,827; while the PDP clinched Esan Central with 10, 180 votes to APC’s  9,781 of the 20,211 total valid votes.

In Ovia North East LGA, APC garnered 17, 561 votes to the 13,141 recorded by its major contender- the PDP.
