As a way of encouraging clubs to strive to win away matches, the League Management Company (LMC), organisers of the Nigeria professional Football  League NPFL), introduced some cash incentives of N500,000 (Five hundred thousand Naira) to clubs.
The LMC also announced N200,000 (Two hundred thousand Naira) as incentive for away draw with a home win attracting N100,000.
But after a good start to the season, where Plateau United has lost one and won two in the three-week old league, Zachary Baraje, coach of the side, has denied knowledge of such incentives.
Speaking to Independent, he claimed ignorance of the existence of such incentives, admitting that the development was strange to him.
“I’m not aware that LMC will give me any money for winning at home. I am not even aware that an away win attracts N500,000.
“Is the money going to the coach or the football team because as I am talking to you, I am not aware that either I or my team will earn any special bonus for winning either home or away,” he said.
