Aviation Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka, has sacked the newly appointed Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Director of Finance and Account, Mr. Tochukwu Bede Uchendu. This follows protest by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) that the appointment was illegal.

The union had in a petition to the Head of Service of the Federation on March 23, 2015, alleged that Uchendu is a director in Chidoka’s company called Consumer Investment Limited and that he would compromise in the course of discharging his duties.

According to ATSSSAN, “it’s obvious that he may not be able to discharge his duties without fear or favour as he would have to contend with conflict of interests because of his ownership as a board member of Consumer Investment Limited, a company which the wife of the Honourable Minister of Aviation is also a serving Director.”
