For transforming the face of governance in Edo State and initiating projects across the state,  former Governor of the defunct Mid-West region and Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, has pledged to support Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the rest of his life.
Dr. Ogbemudia gave the pledge when Governor Oshiomhole visited him on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his residence, in Benin City, Edo State.
The former governor, who was elated by the visit of the Governor Oshiomhole and his entourage, said: “I will continue to work with you until my grave. I have withdrawn my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), so, I am at home as a non-political, non-partisan politician.
“So, as you have come here, I don’t see any other way to thank you than to make sure I work with you, and I will continue to work with you until my grave.”
Speaking on the issue of job creation, Dr. Ogbemudia said that, since the oil price is dwindling, the future now lies in agriculture.
“I think anybody living today (that) cannot find a white-collar job can get two or three of these ponds, mobile or earth ponds, and produce fish that will give him at least half a million every six months. There is somebody I know who has about 200 ponds. If Edo people handle it, it can produce enough fish for export for the country,” he said.
Governor Oshiomhole, on his part, paid glowing tributes to the two-time former governor for his exemplary leadership in the state and the inspiration he has provided for humanity.
Governor Oshiomhole prayed God to continue to lead him as a shining example of how the state can find peace and relevance beyond the bounds of partisan politics and grant him long life, good health and more wisdom to advise the government of the day.
