LAGOS – Mutiu Adepoju, former Super Eagles midfielder, has urged Eagles and Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, not to be deterred by the snub his team mates always give to him whenever he scores a goal.
Instead, he has been advised to draw courage and strength from always delivering whenever he was called upon, saying that not celebrating with a player after scoring goals is discouraging.
“I have heard it on radio that he always celebrates alone whenever he scores a goal; it is discouraging for your team mates not to celebrate with you after you score. This is even worse for a young player like Iheanacho.
“But I want him to draw strength from always performing whenever he is on the field. That will not force him to start thinking of leaving the club as long as the coach still believes in him.
“Such thing was not heard of during our time; your team mates were always all over you whenever you scored so hearing that Iheanacho is left to celebrate alone is very bad,” Adepoju said.
It would be recalled that Manchester City players have been accused of always not celebrating with Iheanacho whenever the Nigerian scored, a development that has attracted widespread condemnation
