Theophilus Afelokhai, Enyimba goalkeeper, has asserted the importance of the derby match on Saturday against FC IfeanyiUba, saying there would not be mistake on their side.
Afelokhai said he has always had 100% edge over IfeanyiUba when he was with Kano Pillars, saying the same scenario would be repeated on Saturday, as he braces up for the challenge.
Enyimba will host IfeanyiUbah, in Saturday’s week 17 encounter at Umuahia Township Stadium.
Afelokhai said history has always favoured him in the colours of former side, Kano Pillars, and will be same in the Peoples Elephant against the Nnewi outfit.
“I had 100% edge over the side while playing for Kano Pillars, so I see same scenario repeating itself.
“There will not be any mistake not only on my own part but the entire team against oriental neighbours, FC IfeanyiUbah.
“I’m not the character that fears opponents’ attackers so it will not change now we are confronting FC IfeanyiUbah.
“The oriental clash is important to us as we need a positive result in the encounter to further shore up our position on the league table.
“We are the reigning champions and should not be occupying the position we are right now even though we have three make-up matches to play.
“We are supposed to lead the pack at all time to prove our pedigree and stuff as Nigerian champions.
“The encounter is not going to be an easy one given the familiarity between both sides but we will get the job done.
“We are not keen on the goal margin but the whole three points at stake in the encounter,” he said to supersport.com.
The two-time African champions is 12th on the 20-team top flight on 21 points with three matches to spare against Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists and sister side, Abia Warriors.
