Ibori’s Bill Will Standardise Operations Of Hotels, Increase IGR In Delta – Lawmaker

Asaba – Delta State House of Assembly, DSHA, has received the bill for a law to make provisions for Regulation of the Operations of Hotels and restaurants.

Hon. Erhiatake Ibori, member representing Ethiope West State constituency, sponsored the bill.

The bill has also scaled through second reading and committed to the House Committee on Culture and Tourism for scrutiny.

The Chairman House Committee on Culture and Tourism, Hon Peter Uviejitobor told Independent Newspaper that the bill would standardize their operations and boost the internally Generated Revenue (IGR) profile of the State Government.

According to him, the public hearing on the bill was a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to bring their wealth of intellectual input in the course of successfully delivering the task given to them as lawmakers.

He said there is need to fine-tune and restructure the bill in other not to be at variance with the Delta State Tourism Board laws.

The Minority Whip said that the state government should be encouraged to systematically avoid double taxation in the operations of hotels and restaurants.
