Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, says he hope to build a formidable team devoid of individualism ahead of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

The competition will run from Oct. 17 to Nov. 8 in Chile.

Eaglets will defend the trophy  it won in 2013 in UAE, even as it has been group alongside hosts Chile, Croatia and USA in Group A

“We are trying to make something out of these players,” Amuneke said.

“They are very talented boys but talent is never enough. There has to be extra work put in to bring out the talent.

“And this is what we are trying to do with the boys, because the road to success is never easy. We have to work hard with them, for them to be better and stronger.

“Football has gone beyond individualism, we have to build a team; a collective unit. We do have some very talented individuals but we need to make them into a team,” Amuneke said.

Amuneke said the technical crew would decide on selection of players for the competition in Chile.

“Selecting the best 21 players is not as easy as that. I and my crew have to sit down and evaluate the performance of the players and pick the ones that will be very useful to us.

“I want all the players to be able to play when occasion demands. We want all the players to have a high sense of responsibility because you can’t predict what will happen.

“They must be ready to play at any point in time. That is why we involve everybody when we are training in order for everybody to be on the same page.

“When the time comes, we will pick those that will make us proud,’’ he said.
