Governor Okowa said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has given confidence that the project would see the light of the day.

According to the governor, with the dwindling revenue from oil, it was important to boost investors’ confidence to enable them come to the state to shore up its revenue base, stating that a high-powered committee which has his Deputy, Kingsley Otuaro, as chairman would organise a security summit in the future.

“I want to plead with Deltans to give peace a chance so that investors can come into the state. Delta State is a place that must be investors’ friendly so that most of the investors coming into the country will invest here,” he said, adding, “I want to thank Warri South-West local government for the peace we have enjoyed in that area. They should continue to maintain it for the sake of the Gas City because both the Federal Government and the NNPC are still very much interested in delivering that project.”

The governor said, “security in the state is good but, we need some improvement, a stakeholders meeting would be held very soon in the state because Delta State will go back to what it used to be – the business hub of the country and this requires the cooperation of everybody as it is in our best interest to get more investors to the state to create jobs for our youths.”

He lauded the people of Delta South Senatorial District for their support, saying that he won the elections based on the support from all Deltans and called on opponents during the elections, to sheath their swords and join him in moving the state forward.

Senator Okowa disclosed that with the setting in of the dry season, construction of roads and classrooms would commence with the available resources which he reiterated would be accountably and transparently managed in the overall interests of Deltans.
