The Imo House of Assembly on Thursday passed a motion urging President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a panel of inquiry to probe Monday’s Fulani herdsmen attack on Nimbo community in Enugu State.

The House also called for investigation into the source of weapons used by the herdsmen in carrying out the attack.

The resolution followed the adoption of a motion moved by Mr Arthur Egwim (APC- Ideato North).

Egwim, who moved the motion under matters of urgent public importance, condemned the attack on Ukpabi Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani, Enugu State by the Fulani herdsmen.

Egwim noted that human lives are sacrosanct and as such no one should be allowed to kill another.

He decried the actions of the herdsmen and called for the immediate investigation of the incident to ascertain the immediate and remote causes.

The legislator also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to quickly move in and resettle members of the affected community.

Egwim, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering immediate military presence in the community.

Contributing, the legislator representing Aboh Mbaise, Mr Mike Iheanetu (PDP), said the situation would get worse if immediate action was not taken.

Iheanetu noted that many people were killed by herdsmen since this year, and called for supply of relief materials to Nimbo community.
