Heartland FC of Owerri head coach, Erasmus Onuh-Ollotah, has asked his wards to resume training by June 1 after embarking on a four-day break following the inauguration of following the inauguration of new governments in the state.

The coach gave the order after Wednesday’s, saying there was need for the players to return to camp as they have to continue serious preparations for the restart of the season on June 14.

Coach Onuh said that the break was necessitated by the fact that the side’s stadium and training pitch- Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri- will be the centre of activities for Friday’s state governorship and other elected members’ inauguration ceremony.

Speaking during the week, “We could’t use the pitch for training for two to three days due to the upcoming inauguration ceremony at the stadium.

“We discovered too that there is not an alternative good training pitch within the city, so it makes a lot of sense to give the players a few days’ holiday to resume back on Monday, June 1.

“We could’ve looked outside for a playable pitch but that effort is hampered by the ongoing fuel scarcity.

“However, I impressed it upon the players that they must keep fit within the off period for the task ahead.

“We’ve huge task ahead of us once the three-week break announced by the league body comes to an end on June 14.

“Ordinarily, there is no need for the break or any form of relaxation at the moment until we reach the mark we set for ourselves,” Onuh opined.
