Port Harcourt – Another disaster struck as unidentified gunmen abducted Mr. Nnamdi Abbah, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

The incident happened less than 24 hours after Mr. Boris Neenwi another chieftain of the party, and three others were assassinated in Tai Local Government Area of the state.

Abbah, who is a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area was taken away at gunpoint Tuesday night on Alakahia axis of East-West Road, Obio/Akpor LGA.

The victim, according to a source that pleaded anonymity, was kidnapped around 8 p.m. while returning to his house.

The source said the victim was driving towards Obiri Ikwerre before he was stopped by gunmen around Alakahia and taken hostage.

Confirming the incident, Barr. Chizy Enyi, who is a close relation, said no contact had been established between the family and the kidnappers since the incident.

When contacted, DSP, Nnamdi Omoni, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, said, “I am not aware of it now. I will find out from the DPO in that area.”

Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Abe, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District in the legislative re-run election, has called on Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector-General of Police, to investigate the gruesome murder of Hon. Boris Neenwi and other APC stalwarts by unidentified gunmen in Nonwa Tai, in Tai Local Government Area, on Wednesday.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by Mr. Parry Saroh Benson, Spokesperson to Senator Abe, stated that the deceased until his death was a strong supporter and loyalist of Senator Magnus Abe who had always stood his ground against criminality and all forms of molestation.

Abe said that a full and unbiased investigation would unravel those behind the dastardly act and restore the people’s confidence in the security agencies.

He described the deceased who recently completed his law degree programme from the University of  Maiduguri and hailed from Yeghe in Gokana Local Government Area as a man of integrity, an advocate  of peace and progress.
