A voluntary youth group, Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE), has lamented the poor funding of the newly introduced compulsory entrepreneurial course at the secondary school cadre in the country.

It said the development had hampered the innovation from having any meaningful impact on skills acquisition by graduates of higher institutions, thereby causing increasing unemployment index among the youths.

The youth group in a statement by its coordinator of the community SAGE , Community Grammar School, Kota Ekiti, Ekiti State, Mr Oluwafemi Julius  in Ado Ekiti, over the weekend , said the new curriculum is targeted at empowering  students with skills that can make them be employers of

labour, rather than being job seekers.

Despite the snag, Oluwafemi lauded the federal government for introducing the programme, saying it was an indication of the federal government’s sincerity in tackling the menace of youth unemployment.
