A group known as ‘Egbema Radical Group’ in the Warri North Local Government area of Delta State has urged the state House of Assembly to speedily pass a bill before it aimed at restructuring the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission    (DESOPADEC) before May 29.

The group in a statement by its spokesman, Ami Dada, said “restructuring of the interventionist agency is a welcome development that will enhance more jobs, harness developments and improve the living standard of the people more than the present structure”. The group explained further that decentralisation of the DESOPADEC board would also bring about accountability, accessibility and transparency, adding that the restructuring brings the board more closer to the grassroots who suffer the day to day activities of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

The statement urged those against the restructuring of the board to have a rethink and support those behind the restructuring of DESOPADEC to enable the oil producing communities enjoy the benefit of their God given wealth.
