Experts have commended the list of commissioners and aides released by Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, saying their profiles present a clue on things to expect.

But they contend that the governor must ensure they are drafted to their area of professional training for maximum productivity.

The group, Concerned Experts on Good Governance (CEGG), at an interactive session in Lagos, lauded Ambode’s list, given some of the talented youths that were identified to be part of the government.

They described the professionals in the list of commissioners and special advisers which Governor Ambode submitted on Monday to the Lagos State House of Assembly as evidence of the type of government he is poised to run.

Coordinator of the group, Dr. Muyiwa Olakunle, a systems auditor, told journalists at the press briefing that the list is worth commending.

Said Olakunle: “It takes courage, vision and focus to accommodate such young accomplished professionals in a politically complex state like Lagos.

“Yes, out of the 23 commissioners-to-be and the 13 special advisers-to-be, there are known politicians but, to me, by injecting into the system, youthful fresh blood, including core professionals like Akinyemi Ashade,  a partner in KPMG, with special expertise on Financial Services Industry and others like Mrs. Yetunde Onabolu; Fela Bank-Olemoh; former Managing Director, National Mirror, Steve Ayorinde and others such as Alhaja Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, a pharmacist; Kehinde Joseph and Prof. Ademola Abass, a professor of Law, Ambode is set to face the current challenges of today’s governance.

“Core professionals for the case of realizing higher IGR should be drafted to finance, budgeting and planning ministries.”
