An advocacy group under the auspices of Niger Delta Peace and Development Forum (NDPDF) has urged Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa to make informed decisions in choosing his cabinet members so as bring about the effective and sustainable development in the state.

The leader of the group, Hon Ramsey Edigbue, while commending the Governor for the appointment of Hon Ovie Agas as the SSG to the state Government also appealed to the Governor for more political appointments to come to Ughelli North local Government area of the state as compensation for their massive support to Governor Okowa in the elections as he said the governor should “consult extensively and he should work with technocrats so as to make the right decisions in bringing about the desired development in the state.”

On the issue of the next DESSOPADEC chairman, Hon Edigbue while speaking to our correspondent emphasised on the need for Ughelli north to produce the chairman, noting that Ughelli North was not only one of the largest oil producing area at the moment, but was also maintaining the largest population in the state, hence their contribution as almost the highest in the state IGR.

“So we are actually well positioned for the DESSOPADEC position. So if the Governor is proactive, I think he should give that appointment to Ughelli North.”

While appealing to the other Urhobo ethnic nations to look critically at his analysis, as they were at the helms of affairs, he also noted that they have been marginalized for long now hence the need for a consolidated position.
